MetroWest Nonprofit Network Opens Applications for 2025 Certificate in Nonprofit Management
Framingham, MA — May 13, 2025 — The MetroWest Nonprofit Network (MWNN) is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for its signature Certificate in Nonprofit Management program. This intensive 12-week course is designed for current and aspiring nonprofit staff and community professionals seeking to sharpen their skills, broaden their understanding of the sector, and strengthen their impact in the communities they serve.
Led by seasoned nonprofit and community leaders, the practitioner-taught curriculum covers the essential areas of nonprofit success, including Budget & Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, Leadership Development, Managing Teams, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). Participants engage in interactive learning experiences including group work, panel discussions, and expert presentations.
Now entering its fifth year, the program has graduated 92 individuals from organizations both large and small—from Hoops and Homework and South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) to The Possible Zone and Franklin Food Pantry. Whether you’re a new Executive Director, a program manager, a board member, someone starting a grassroots initiative or considering a career shift, this program is designed to meet you where you are and help you lead with confidence.
Graduates leave with more than a certificate—they gain a regional network, renewed confidence, and practical tools to lead sustainable change. Take Damon Araujo, founder of I Believe Academy in Framingham. He enrolled to gain the knowledge needed to turn his grassroots effort into a sustainable nonprofit. What began as Damon helping a few students after school—blending basketball practice with academic support—quickly grew as more kids reached out, revealing a deeper need in the community. It often starts with one person stepping up—but to transform that passion into a thriving organization, support and know-how are essential. According to Damon, “ The Nonprofit Management Certificate Program is exactly what I needed. While I always had a clear vision of how to support the kids with a combination of tutoring, mentoring and youth basketball, I needed to gain the knowledge and tools to establish and manage what had become a nonprofit organization.”
The program is hybrid combining virtual and in-person sessions and open to participants beyond the MetroWest region. Applications are due by July 1, 2025, and can be found at metrowestnonprofit.org/certificate. “Having experienced this program firsthand, it’s a privilege to watch each new cohort grow their skills, connections, and confidence to lead meaningful change,” said Leah Parker-Moldover, Executive Director of MetroWest Nonprofit Network, who completed the Certificate Program in 2021and credits it with helping her successfully transition into her current leadership role.
Leah encourages everyone to apply early as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and to reach out to her with any questions at [email protected].
