Pro Bono Consultation for Nonprofits: Bylaws Review and Update

Pro Bono Consultation for Nonprofits

Bylaws Review and Update

When was the last time your organization formally reviewed its bylaws to ensure that they remain in accordance with your Articles of Organization and other corporate documents?

  • Do your bylaws reflect your organization’s actual practices?
  • Does your organization have any concerns about how your bylaws are being or can be interpreted to ensure that decisions and resolutions are legally binding?
  • Would you benefit from an individual consultation with a trained attorney?

This event, in partnership with Lawyers Clearinghouse and the Framingham Public Library, consisted of a two-part informative seminar, focusing on the mechanics of bylaws and practical tips for how to use these documents in your operation, as well as individual consultation sessions staffed by pro bono lawyers from Ropes & Gray LLP.

Attorneys sat with nonprofits to review their current bylaws and spot issues their organization may wish to address.

Who knew reviewing bylaws could create such a buzz! Thanks to our partners at Lawyers Clearinghouse and pro bono attorneys from Ropes and Gray for providing an informative session on bylaw review and updates followed by individual consultations with nonprofits to spot issues in their bylaws. Over 18 organizations participated in this free seminar. Thanks to the staff of the Framingham Public Library /McAuliffe Branch for their hospitality and Middlesex Savings Bank our Fall 2018 Seminar Series sponsor.
